Catching up on last week

Another week has come and gone...  I can't believe Calvin will be 8 weeks old on Tuesday (2 days from now).  The time has just flown by.  I have been warned of this, but I really didn't know how fast the time does go by til he came.  I am treasuring every moment I have with my little lovebug.

This week Calvin gave a shout-out to his grandma's (he has 3 grandma's and 4 great-grandma's) via clothing.  I couldn't decide what picture to post.  He is just so cute.  I had to post a couple...

What a silly grin
Calvin is always all smiles for mommy
Cross-eyed baby anyone?

Bath time again... Finally some pictures of a happy baby in the bathtub.

Okay, so he's not exactly smiling, but he isn't screaming either...

Our cousin, Kim, and her husband, Nate, came to see us.  They are family from San Diego who have been living in Tacoma while Nate finished up his time serving in the Army.  He is being discharged next week, so they were down in Portland to celebrate.  They stopped by to say hi and meet Calvin.

Happy Valentine's Day

Calvin's first Valentine's Day was spent at home with mommy and daddy.  We had a fun time just being together and playing (entertaining) our baby.  He actually entertained us more than we entertained him.  It was a great night.

Today we also went to Ikea and YoCream at Cascade Station.  It was pretty windy, so we didn't get any pictures outside.  We did get a sleepy baby in his carseat though...

Sick babies are so sad

Calvin has developed a cold.  It is so sad to watch him be miserable.  He is sneezing, coughing and spewing up phlegm.  He is also congested with a runny nose (clear in color, which is good).  My poor baby is not a happy baby right now.  We are keeping the humidifier on in whatever room he is in.  He is also propped up some when sleeping.  Depending on how he's doing tomorrow, we might have to visit the doctor.  There is not a lot they (or we) can do for him, but I am a little worried about the cold turning into pneumonia.  I am calling the nurse in the morning to find out what they recommend.

On a happy note, I found a book that my mom read to my siblings almost daily.  It is out of print, so I had to order it from an online bookseller.  The book is Nathan and Nicholas Alexander.  Its a sweet tale about an elephant who find a mouse living in his toy box.  I am excited to read this story to Calvin...  Or better yet, have Grandma Lynette read it to him.  The next book I want to buy for his collection is I Am A Bunny.

While I do not have any pictures of my sad, sick baby boy... I do have some pictures taken recently of him in a few of his onesies.  He has so many cute ones, I have decided to start taking pictures of him wearing them.

Bathtime aftermath

Calvin finally likes taking a bath.  As I was bathing him on my own, I wasn't able to get any pictures of the happy baby in the bathtub.  However, he was equally happy once he was out of the bath and wrapped up in the towel his Grandma Lynette made him.

We also read our first book today, Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?.  It was a childhood favorite of mine and I'm excited to introduce it to Calvin.

Tummy Time

We've added "tummy time" as part of the daily routine in the Windsnes household.  This is simply time that baby spends on his tummy.  Calvin seems to enjoy it and holds his head up high.  He loves to look around and explore his little world.  Today he played on the quilt/blanket his Aunt Abi made him for Christmas.  Its soft, cozy and brightly colored, so I think it will be the official "tummy time blanky."

He starts out strong, head held high.

Still going strong.  Looking at the bright colored cars on his blanky.

Getting tired now...

And done... with "tummy time."
